BTTV (also known as BetterTTV or BetterTwitch.TV) is a third-party browser extension that allows users to use more emotes in their Twitch chat than Twitch officially provides. It's a great way to add both static and animated GIF emotes to your Twitch channel.
There are both Global BTTV emotes and channel-specific emotes. Each streamer can upload their own personal BTTV emotes for their channel.
So, in this guide I will help you get BTTV up and running!

If you don't want to read this written guide, feel free to watch the video. I also explain things in more depth in the video.
Step 1 - First Check if BTTV Is Already Installed
An easy way to check if BTTV emotes are enabled is to see whether "monkaS" appears as text in chat instead of as an emote. If you see the text "monkaS," BTTV is either not installed in your browser or not properly configured.
The word "monkaS" is one of the global BTTV emotes, so it should work in all Twitch channels as long as the extension is installed.
Step 2 - Download the BTTV for Your Browser
Visit the BTTV website and download the browser extension for your specific browser.
Visit the BTTV website
Step 3 - Open Up the BTTV Settings
Once BTTV is installed in your browser as an extension, there are many settings you can adjust.
However, to enable emotes, click the ⚙️ icon and then select "BetterTTV Settings".
Step 4 - Enable BTTV Emotes
In the settings menu, enable both "BetterTTV Emotes" and "BetterTTV GIF Emotes." This will allow you to see both static and animated GIF emotes in Twitch chat.
Step 5 - Trying Out BTTV Emotes
To make sure BTTV has been successfully installed, you can either type "monkaS" in chat or use the new BTTV emotes menu to select an emote.
Now you should be able to see BTTV emotes in chat as well!
